HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST
 
We are looking to add an experienced Human Resource Generalist to our team. The preferred candidate will have previous experience in maintaining knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure federal, state and government agency’s compliance, communicates changes in college personnel policies and procedures and ensures proper submission, participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems. Assists in the implementation and annual compensation program updates; rewrites job description and monitor performance evaluation program.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
            RECRUITING AND STAFFING
  1. Develop and administers recruiting programs. Responsible for recruitment, screening, selection, and applicant tracking of candidates for recruitment programs. Develop, update and maintain job descriptions
  2. Responsible for developing strong relationships with targeted sources (i.e., universities and other specialized recruitment sources) to identify, attract, and recruit candidates in a competitive market.
  3. Responsible for mastering the HRIS system to ensure compliance, increase technology use in the hiring process and for training customers and HR staff on system for hiring.
  4. Sources candidates and develops networks of people and processes to support a strong pipeline of qualified candidates.
  5. Identifies and places targeted advertising, assess effectiveness of recruitment activities; ensure compliance with legal requirements, and implementation of recruiting programs.
  6. Works with hiring managers to document requirements for open positions. Pre-screens candidates and consults with management to ensure compliance measures are fulfilled throughout the candidate evaluation and interview process.
  7. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments, and may provide guidance to lesser-experienced personnel. Frequently contributes to the development of new theories and methods.
  8. Represents the organization as a primary customer contact and generally performs in a program/project leadership role. Interacts with management, staff, and faculty on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines.
  9. Uses leadership ability to coach, mentor and train managers, and coworkers on various HR processes and procedures.
  10. Lead the annual completion of the performance evaluation process; ensure merit benefits are assigned as appropriate.
  11. Assist in computing adjunct payroll, semester pay rates and payroll for payments. Maintain current experience chart of all adjunct faculty.
  12. Assist in the communication of changes in class and/or step for adjunct and faculty according to the Master Contract
  13. Work closely with Supervisor of Payroll to resolve payroll issues.
  14. Stay abreast of federal, state and case law changes. Monitors labor law updates for changes that affect Human Resources policies and procedures.
  1. Ensure personnel files are in compliance with current federal and state documentation
  2. Assist in collaboration and relationship-building with various groups within the college
  3. Represent the college at community events as may be directed by the Director of Human Resources.
  4. Work on special projects as directed by the Director of Human Resources.
  5. Assist in the administration, education and maintenance of all college benefits programs


    Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years HR related work experience; 3-5 years HR Generalist experience
  • 3-5 years recruiting experience
  • 3-5 years project management experience
  • Work closely with Supervisor of Payroll to resolve payroll issues.
  • Assist in collaboration and relationship-building with various groups within the college
  • Represent the college at community events as may be directed by the Director of Human Resources.
  • Work on special projects as directed by the Director Human resources.
  • Assist in the administration, education and maintenance of all college benefits programs
     
     
    SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES.
  • Must exhibit professionalism and be able to communicate well, both orally and in written form.
  • Must possess the ability to organize and initiate office operations according to needs.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Package (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Publisher), SAP, Datatel, Colleague, Datatel or some other HRIS system
  • Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related matters.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Must be able to work under the pressure of deadlines.
  • Must exhibit sound and accurate judgments.
  • Working knowledge of a web-based Human Resource system; SAP, Colleague or knowledge of DATATEL
  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations that affect employment required.
  • Experience conducting investigations and preparing reports related to EEO compliance and other Human Resources matters preferred.
     
    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of 5-7 years of Human Resource Generalist
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Personnel Administration, Management,
  • Business Administration or related field required; Master’s degree and/or PHR/ SPHR certified preferred  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

    SALARY:                $50, 000-55,000 /per year, plus fringe benefits
    (If a current KCKCC employee is selected for this position, consideration will be given to his/her current salary.)
