TEC Evening Adjunct Instructor – Automotive Technology

Kansas City Kansas Community College is searching for Adjunct faculty for the Fall 2017 semester to instruct in the area of brakes, who is creative, open to change, has a passion for learning and are willing to promote the mission of the College

Reporting directly to the Automotive Technology Coordinator, the Adjunct Instructor shall work with and assist the Automotive Technology Instructors in the following areas:

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical guidance in the performance of specific tasks in the maintenance and repair of vehicles
  • Observe and document student performance of tasks assigned by Automotive Technology  instructors
  • Ensure safety practices are followed by students
  • Follow required pollution prevention procedures in the handling of chemicals and waste products
  • Maintain records of repair orders for proper accountability of parts and materials
  • Maintain control of college owned specialty tools for use by students
  • Enforcing all rules and regulations, per the college’s guidelines and other enforcement agencies that govern student practices of KCKCC
  • Being responsible for the transportation of students during field trips per the college’s policies and guidelines
  • Traveling with students to off campus activities
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the respective instructor
  • Work schedule will be part-time
  • Be able to facilitate college and I-CAR curriculum

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must know and be able to teach proper and correct techniques in Automotive Technology.
  • Must have the ability to work with individuals of various backgrounds and abilities.
  • Must understand the philosophy of the urban, open-door community college.
  • Applicant must be  able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Must have 3-5 years experience as a Automotive technician performing the varied duties in Automotive repair shop environment 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Must have ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification in Brakes.  Persons in this position will be required to retain certifications throughout employment.
  • Person should have experience and an understanding of all aspects of the automotive technology industry.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt 

SALARY:        $742 per credit hour
