Job Purpose: The Director of Institutional Effectiveness provides leadership, vision and direction for a holistic institutional research program that supports the College’s mission and strategic goals. The Director oversees and manages institutional research functions and is responsible for all aspects of research to ensure continuous quality improvement, institutional effectiveness and college-wide use of evidence for institutional decision-making. The Director provides support for HLC accreditation activities, student assessment and grant writing/management.  The Director provides relevant, accurate and timely information to KCKCC Leadership and key stakeholders.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reinforce the mission and vision of KCKCC by collecting, analyzing and disseminating information in support of a culture of data informed decision making and continuous quality improvement
  • Demonstrate leadership in KCKCC’s strategic planning process: recommend key performance indicators; develop streamlined data collection strategies and processes to evaluate and monitor progress
  • Research and implement best practices in data collection and reporting to advance KCKCC’s research and institutional effectiveness efforts
  • Create accurate, detailed and timely comprehensive reports on or in an interactive analytics platform that includes institutional characteristics, enrollment projections and trends, and student retention and performance data
  • Initiate collaborative efforts with administrators, faculty and staff on all aspects of HLC accreditation, program reviews and professional program accreditation. Research, conduct and evaluate studies to address specific decision making needs of KCKCC leadership and stakeholders
  • Administer student, employee and stakeholder satisfaction/engagement surveys. Regularly participate in local and national community college benchmarking studies
  • Consult with KCKCC’s Director of Assessment or assessment leads to develop, measure and analyze student learning outcomes
  • Conduct relevant needs assessments, develop measureable outcomes and assist with grantwriting
  • Produce data for and review, monitor and ensure all federal and state reporting requirements are completed and submitted accurately and on time
  • Design data collection instruments and internal surveys to assess college-wide or departmental goals, objectives and/or strategies for improvement
  • Serve as a member of KCKCC committees, such as: Strategic Planning Committee, HLC Accreditation Team and Assessment Advisory Team
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Experience collecting, verifying, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data, preferably in a higher education environment
  • Experience with database management systems to extract data from databases using custom designed and canned queries
  • Highly proficient in conducting analyses of large data sets/systems and generate meaningful, relevant and easily understandable reports/presentations for specific audiences
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications including Access and Excel
  • Experience using statistical software packages, such as Stata, SPSS, SAS, Tableau and/or R
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail and accuracy of information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills; commitment and ability to interact with diverse groups of students, faculty, staff, and college community
  • Experience in strategic planning, including establishing goals, objectives and measureable outcomes
  • Ability to establish cooperative working relationships

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, data science, educational administration, business administration, quantitative social science, or other research related discipline.
  • Five years of experience in research, evaluation and/or assessment in an institutional or higher education setting. Experience in community college environment preferred.

SALARY:   $78,030-$95,370 dependent upon education and experience


WORK SCHEDULE:
Must be able to work a variable schedule/varying hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours; as needed.
