Part-time Relief Secretary – Human Resources

(Monday-Friday Daytime hours as needed)

This position reports directly to the Director of Human Resources, the Part-Time, on-call, Relief Secretary shall be responsible for:
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Answering telephones, taking messages and setting appointments (if applicable).
  2. Maintaining confidentiality on all information in the office(s).
  3. Typing whenever necessary utilizing MS Word.
  4. Filing and/or setting up files as needed.
  5. Reproducing materials and distributing as directed.
  6. Collecting and distributing mail as directed.
  7. Operating a PC or other equipment such as printers, faxes, copiers.
  8. Organizing and accumulating information that may arrive.
  9. Working on a “floating” basis for the various offices on campus.
 
CONSULTING TASKS:
  1. Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  1. Keyboarding at 50 words per minute required (test will be administered).
  2. Ability to operate a PC and have experience with data entry and MS Office Products.
  3. Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing.
  4. Ability to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
  5. Must possess professional phone skills.
  6. Ability to work with minimal supervision required.
  7. Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines is essential.
  8. Be available to work on-call basis, as needed.
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. College coursework in secretarial procedures is preferred.
  3. One-two years’ experience working in clerical positions.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
 
 
 
SALARY:                 $11.26 per hour
