Kansas City Kansas Community College is seeking an individual to fill the above vacancy for Fall Semester, 2015.  This person will be responsible for all aspects of the program and report directly to the Dean of Arts, Humanities, & Social Sciences.  The teaching load will consist of a minimum total of 30 credit hours for the 2-semester academic year but will receive 3 hours of reassign time for coordinating activities during the fall and spring semesters.  Additional opportunities for teaching during the summer may be available. The successful candidate must be creative, open to change, have a passion for learning and be willing to promote the mission of the College.
 
DESCRIPTION OF INSTRUCTIONAL DUTIES
  1. Teach courses in the discipline with clear and measurable objectives.
  2. Prepare instructional materials such as syllabi, course outlines, examinations, etc.
  3. Maintain a student-oriented approach to education, including recruitment, advising, etc.
  4. Create and revise curriculum and assessments to enhance program effectiveness.
  5. Demonstrate ongoing professional development while sustaining desirable classroom results.
  6. Establish and nurture a high profile in community activities that address the needs of the ECE community.
  7. Develop and enhance mutually beneficial partnerships with area high school counselors, ECE professionals, and businesses.
  8. Serve on division and college-wide committees as appropriate.
  9. Collaborate fully with students, faculty, administrators, and community organizations.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.
 
PROGRAM COORDINATION
  1. Assist in recruiting, training, and coordinating adjunct faculty to ensure  alignment between courses.
  2. Establish and maintain an effective program of student recruitment and outreach.
  3. Make appropriate recommendations regarding schedule preparation, curriculum revision, and articulation.
  4. Research and prepare budget, technology, and facilities requests according to college guidelines.
  5. Exercise fiscal responsibility in daily operations, planning expenditures, etc.
  6. Oversee all aspects of short- and long-range planning and program
 
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
           
Supervises classroom and students.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Experience teaching at the college level (minimum 3-5 years); experience with community college preferred.
  2. Experience working in an Early Childhood setting (minimum 5 years); supervisory experience a plus.
  3. Knowledge of Kansas licensing for Early Childhood Education standards.
  4. Experience teaching traditional and nontraditional college students with a wide variety of learning styles.
  5. Experience and/or participation in integrated, interdisciplinary teaching and learning initiatives is encouraged.
  6. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills are required.
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  1. Master’s degree in Early Childhood or closely related field.  Doctorate degree is preferred.
  2. Kansas licensure is highly preferred
