MULTIMEDIA/ONLINE COURSE DEVELOPER FOR T4E GRANT (TAACCCT)

The Multimedia Content/Online Course Developer for the Training for Employment Grant (T4E) provides all multimedia development and support services for the all aspects of the Department of Labor TAACCCT Grant awarded to Kansas City Kansas Community College for its T4E project. This position will operate in a manner designed to support the goals of the T4E grant by developing multimedia materials for curriculum components, maintaining project status and updates, as well as providing faculty training. This is a grant funded position which is contingent upon the needs of the grant and may be sustained by KCKCC after the duration of the grant. The Multimedia/Online Course Developer will report directly to the T4E Project Manager and will work collaboratively with Online Education Services, KCKCC faculty, staff, and T4E personnel.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides consultation and support services in instructional design and technologies, assessment, and retention strategies to enhance student learning and effective teaching for new and existing courses and related activities.
- Supports the on-line learning environment through training, development and implementation, and promotes the expanded use of course management software tools.
- Works with faculty and staff in designated fields to develop multimedia content.
- Develops and designs high-level instructor-led training.
- Creates and edits segments of hands-on training video clips.
- Supports training materials using college styles, standards, and development tools.
- Reviews course multimedia content during the design, development, and delivery phases for sound instructional practices.
- Assists faculty with the selection of instructional strategies, development and review of course/lesson objectives, and design of course content and assessments.
- Works with the faculty and web development teams to structure content for the best learning experiences for online and onsite learning.
- Helps incorporate innovative methods of content delivery in the online and onsite environments using appropriate technologies.
- Collaborates with college personnel to ensure that educational resources are accessible, updated, and functioning properly.
- Promotes best practices for assessment and learning.
- Supports the quality assurance for online course model adopted by the college.
- Analyzes and evaluates new instructional tools and technologies and recommends appropriate tools and approaches to improve course design.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated familiarity with Instructional Design, online learning pedagogy, instructional technologies, web-based instruction, and courseware design principles.
- At least one year of related experience.
- Working knowledge of digital videography, web-based, and multimedia technologies, such as HTML5, Photoshop, Illustrator, Captivate, Articulate, Adobe Flash/Premiere/Acrobat/Air, SCORM, AIIC, Audacity, Audition, Dreamweaver, JavaScript, and video production tools.
- Experience in creating and editing video clips.
- Knowledge of video storyboarding, production, and editing.
- Knowledge of website and multimedia graphical formats and color palettes.
- Ability to translate face-to-face demonstrations to online environment.
- Ability to work with subject matter experts to develop course curriculum and multimedia content.
- Ability to prioritize, schedule, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team under multiple, competing deadlines.
- Knowledge of electronic learning management systems, such as, ANGEL, BlackBoard, or Moodle.
- Strong PC and/or MAC skills.
- Creative illustration, design, and interactivity skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Bachelors in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, or related fields is required, a Masters’ degree preferred.
- Preference will also be given to individuals with extensive experience in instructional multimedia development, web-production, video production, or related fields.

SALARY: $35,000/year, plus fringe benefits. This is a grant-funded position.
