The Adult Education Instructor shall be responsible to the Assistant Adult Education Director and teach all subjects in adult education, as well as all aspects of adult education as required by the Adult and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA), the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR), and Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC). The subjects include Math, Reading, Writing, Social Studies, Science, Technology, College and Workforce Preparation. Instruction will include adult students, 16 years of age and older, at all academic levels.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift items. The employee is directly responsible for safety, wellbeing, and work output.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
Site hours: 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Monday – Wednesday
Instructional hours: 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Monday – Wednesday
Planning hours: 5 hours per week, 5:00 p.m. -- 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. -- 9:00 p.m. each evening plus two (2) additional hours each week
Total hours: 14 hours per week for 43 weeks
This is a nonfaculty, 10 ½ month position.
SALARY: $12,040 yearly. This is a grant funded position. The grant is on an annual renewal through the Kansas Board of Regents from July 1 to June 30.
