SUPERVISOR OF CUSTODIANS

Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds, the Supervisor of Custodians shall be responsible for all matters pertaining to the cleanliness of the college and directing the work efforts of all the custodial personnel.

 

        FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assign the day-to-day job assignments for all custodial personnel.

  • Assume responsibility for the cleanliness of all campus buildings; supervising and assisting in vacuuming, shampooing, stripping, waxing, dusting, pulling trash, window washing, buffing, chalkboard cleaning and furniture cleaning.

  • Participate in and supports the campus-wide Infectious Disease Policy.

  • Be available on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  • Supervise room set-up and tear down.

  • Keeping current in area of responsibility.

  • Purchase all necessary supplies and equipment, as approved by supervisor.

  • Assist in the development of departmental goals and ensure that they are achieved.

  • Assist the Director with evaluations of custodial personnel.

  • Assist the Director with special projects.

  • Assisting the Director in preparing and administering the department budget.

  • Maintain open communication with supervisor about work scheduling and special projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director/Assistant Director.

  • May be required to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call hours.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
     

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to coach and supervise employees
  • Sufficient understanding and knowledge of custodial equipment and to train others.
  • Ability to understand the use of and application of various chemicals used in the custodial field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Visual ability sufficient to notice stains, dirt, cobwebs, trash, etc.

  • Hearing ability sufficient to hear alarms or powered equipment malfunctions.

  • Physical ability sufficient to lift and carry 80 lb. bags several feet.

     

    All applicants tentatively selected for the position of Supervisor- Custodians at Kansas City Kansas Community College will be required to submit to and successfully complete a physical examination and criminal background check prior to appointment. Applicants will also be required to submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal or prohibited drug use. Appointment is contingent upon test results.

     

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred

  • Three years’ experience in the custodial field required.

  • Minimum of three year’s supervisory experience required.

     

    SALARY: $40,112.90-40,918.79 per year

     

    FLSA STATUS: Exempt

     

    SCHEDULE: Third Shift (9:00pm-5:30am)
