DIRECTOR OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Reporting directly to the Dean of Academic Workforce Programs (TEC), the Director is responsible for a range of activities relating to entrepreneurial success in students and community constituents. This position guides entrepreneurship activities at KCKCC by developing strong relationships with area organizations and innovative individuals, elevating the profile of KCKCC as a leader in the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem, and growing entrepreneurial activities through workshops, training events, competitions, curricula development, club activities, and coaching and advisory resources.  Reporting to the Dean, the Director shall have the following responsibilities:
 
 
  1. Manage entrepreneurship-related events such as the Innovation Summit, workshops on innovation, and courses on launching a business.
  2. Develop and close on agreements with partners related to courses, trainings, workshops, and other events.
  3. Recruit individuals and companies’ representatives including those from banking, investment firms, and entrepreneur-related nonprofits, to participate in activities and events.
  4. Work with program coordinators and instructors to expand the KCKCC entrepreneurial programming.
  5. Develop and deploy a cohort of consultants and instructors.
  6. Establish and build relationships with business, industry, and community organizations through active participation in carefully selected events. Partnership development will take place in conjunction with the Dean.
  7. Oversee marketing and advertising initiatives relating to entrepreneurship, including the development and dissemination of hard copy and electronic marketing materials.
  8. Coordinate, with the Director of Workforce Development and Career Services, the support and resources for workforce and career programming, such as classes, consulting appointments, internships, and presentations.
  9. Conduct classroom presentations and facilities tours.
  10. Establish experiential opportunities for students so they gain deeper understanding of entrepreneurship.
  11. Submit all reports in a timely manner to supervisor.
  12. Adhere to KCKCC policies and procedure, including hiring instructors, assuring payments, facility usage, and other areas.
  13. Maintain records, develop budgets, write final reports for events, create records of employer/student contacts, enter information on events and partners into database and track KPIs and other financial and historical documentation.
  14. Serve as member of Division leadership team.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
 
  1. Two years of experience with training, curriculum development, or workforce development.
  2. Excellent oral, writing, and listening communication skills, as illustrated in application materials and during the interview process.
  3. Excellent organizational skills with emphasis on detail, planning, and implementation of complex programs.
  4. Excellent technology skills, including abilities with spreadsheet, social media, and word processing programs.
  5. Familiarity with Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties.
  6. Have an understanding of urban community college populations.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
 
  1. Owning and operating a business for five years.
  2. Four years of experience working with startups or innovation development.
 
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
 
  1. Master’s degree
  2. Experience starting a business
  3. Two years of experience working in a business environment.

SALARY:              $60,498.52/plus fringe benefits
