Reporting directly to the Supervisor of Network Operations, the Network Engineer will be responsible for:
 
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  1. Supports the goals and objectives of Information Services by planning, installing, and maintaining, and tuning domain controlled servers running Microsoft Windows 2003 and 2008 operating systems
  2. TCP/IP management of IP addressing through DHCP server
  3. Upgrades network hardware
  4. Communicates and relays system changes and specifications to ISProfessionals
  5. Manages the College’ Exchange email system
  6. Manages the College’s anti-virus system
  7. Supports the wireless infrastructure on College campuses
  8. Assists Information Services personnel with workstation networking issues
  9. Monitors the attainment of service level objectives by capturing, documenting and reporting network changes, availability and performance.
  10. Assists in obtaining and preparing data for decision-making, system planning, and evaluation
  11. Ensures efficient network implementation and performance by creating simulation and modeling techniques
  12. Serves as a technical resource for Information Services personnel by providing guidance and expertise
  13. Assists in providing technology training and help to students, faculty and staff members.
  14. Participates in the selection, installation, and maintenance of all hardware, system software, and network related components

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
 

  1. Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with all constituents
  2. Quality customer service skills such as discretion, patience, etiquette and professionalism
  3. Network infrastructure design
  4. Windows network user management
  5. Experience with Microsoft multi Domain network servers is highly desired
  6. Working knowledge of MS Active Directory 2003/2008 users and group policies
  7. Ability to work with minimal supervision and under pressure
  8. In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and Internetworking hardware and software
  9. MS SQL and Exchange knowledge is highly preferred
  10. Experience with virtualized server environments
  11. Advanced knowledge of Cisco IOS and routing protocols is preferred

 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
 

  1. Bachelors Degree in computer systems preferred and/or Microsoft certifications such as MCSA or MCSE with extensive field experience (NOTE: A copy of the original certificate is required as proof. MCSE Certification must be obtained within 18 months of employment at the college)
  2. Minimum of three years experience in computer operations, data networking, systems programming, or the equivalent in training and experience
  3. At least one year of the required experience must have involved installation, maintenance, and tuning of data communications system components.

SALARY:                   $45,000.00/per year, plus fringe benefits
