NETWORK SUPERVISOR

Reporting directly to the Dean of Information Systems, the Network Supervisor will be responsible for all network operations, including LAN/WANs, routers, firewalls, switches/hubs, server access and company applications.  Duties will include evaluating hardware and software, including peripheral, output and telecommunications equipment; implementing and coordinating network policies, procedures and standards.  The Network Supervisor will be expected to provide guidance, supervision and leadership as directed by the Dean of Information Systems to the server team and IS Professionals on a daily basis as well as providing and implementing Instructional Technology Solutions.  Responsibilities will include:
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Performing network analysis duties including design, implementation, administration, enhancement and                     documentation of LAN/WAN infrastructure, hardware and software and connections to external networks. Providing technical advice and support to users of LAN/WAN network based applications.
  2. Planning, organizing and implementing development of networks including determining operational procedures and schedules, evaluating, enhancements and modifications; analyzing, designing, testing and troubleshooting systems  and recommending and implementing changes.
  3. Developing security standards and audits for compliance; analyzing, prioritizing and mitigating security risks,      including the design, implementation and ongoing operations of an institutional class intrusion detection system.
  4. Developing procedures, documentation and standards for the Network/Server team.
  5. Providing lead and/or backup administration for KCKCC systems.
  6. Promoting personal development and system cross-training within the Network/Server team.  Developing and          maintaining redundant knowledge within the team for all systems.
  7. Shared responsibility for on-call infrastructure coverage.
  8. Must be able to work off-hours, weekends and travel as required.
  9. Responding directly to concerns regarding web services and taking appropriate actions based on those concerns.
 
CONSULTING TASKS
 
  1. Keeping abreast of new technology and research in network development and sharing this information with the Dean of Information Services.
 
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Supervising the network and server team and resources to meet the needs of KCKCC and working with all        levels  of users and management to ensure the system meets the needs of the College.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
 
  1. High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred in computer science or a related field.
  2. Minimum of six years’ experience in data networks and communications required.
  3. MCSE certification required.
  4. Experience and background in the community college environment preferred.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

            2.     Hearing ability sufficient to communicate with and assist students, faculty and staff of the College.
 
 
SALARY:             $ 63,000.00/year plus fringe benefits
