FT FACULTY – COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY

The Computer Information Systems Technology (CIST) Instructor reports to the Dean of Mathematics Science and Computer Technology (MSCT) for all matters pertaining to the development and implementation of the program, the facilitation of the teaching/learning process, and the supervision of students. The individual must be willing to teach classes in face-to-face and online modes.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Being a member of the CIST Team.
  2. Maintaining computer skills and professional development as verified by national certification.
  3. Curriculum development including course descriptions, objectives, content, and semester calendars.
  4. Planning and organization of classrooms, computer labs, and computer internship experiences.
  5. Selection of appropriate materials, textbooks, equipment, and software.
    1. Maintain equipment in instructional area.
    2. Recommend new items for the program as needed.
  6. Evaluation of student progress as related to learning objectives.
  7. Maintenance of appropriate student and program records.
  8. Participate in CIST Advisory Board Meetings, CIST department meetings, MSCT Division Meetings, and other meetings mandated by the college.
  9. Collaborate with College employees through participation on Campus Committees.
  10. Participate in CIST curriculum development, student recruitment, student advising, and student retention activities.
  11. Other duties as assigned by the MSCT Dean.
 
CONSULTING TASKS
  1. Discuss program issues with CIST team and the MSCT Dean on an ongoing basis.
  2. Consult with CIST faculty in development of new course needs and offerings.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  1. Knowledge of Computer Information Systems Technology Field.
  2. Knowledge of learning processes, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology.
  3. Ability to work effectively with administration, faculty, and students.
  4. Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2013 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access ad Publisher
  5. Hold professional certifications in Computer Information Technology areas such as: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), network administrator or IT security.
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  1. A Master’s degree in CIS/CT or a related field with equivalent course work in CIS/CT preferred.
  2. Instruction in educational theory and techniques, which may include college courses, seminars, or in-service education.
  3. Professional certification in Computer Information Technology or Computer Technology such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).
  4. Must have demonstrated experience with some of the following:
  5. Administering Computer Operating Systems (Window Server/Client OS, Linux, and Desktop OS)
  6. Setup, configure, and maintain computer server/client systems (hardware & software)
  7. Administering Database Systems (SQL Server, Oracle, and/or other Database System)
  8. Cybersecurity certification and teaching experience
  1. Teaching experience preferred.
