Reports to: Machine Technology Lead Instructor and Dean of Technology and Workforce Development
Supervises: Students

Position type: Part-Time (29 hours per week)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

 

JOB PURPOSE:
Work with and assist instructors in the classroom and lab areas.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical guidance in the performance of specific tasks in the maintenance and operation of the machines.
  • Observe and document student performance of tasks assigned by Machine Technology Instructors.
  • Ensure safety practices are followed by students.
  • Follow required pollution prevention procedures in the handling of chemicals and waste products.
  • Maintain records of the orders for proper accountability of materials.
  • Maintain control of college owned specialty tools for use by students.
  • Enforce all rules and regulations, per the college’s guidelines and other enforcement agencies that govern student practices of KCKCC.
  • Responsible for the transportation of students during field trips per the College’s policies and guidelines.
  • Traveling with students to off campus activities.
  • Assist with organization of all aspects of machine technology projects in include good customer relationships, ordering and budgeting of materials, meeting deadlines and producing quality work.
  • Must know and be able to teach proper and correct techniques in machine technology.
  • Minimum qualifications can be substituted with an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Three (3) years’ experience related to machining, machine technology or other closely related field.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clear motor vehicle record.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • Experience in CNC programming and set up.
  • Completion of certificate or degree in Machine Technology.

 

SALARY RANGE: $22.67 per hour.

 

WORK SCHEDULE: 7:45AM – 1:45PM Mon-Thurs and 7:45AM-12:45PM Fri. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, and sit. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift items.
