INTERIM FACULTY – CRIMINAL JUSTICE INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Reporting directly to the Dean of Math, Science and Computer Technology, the Criminal Justice Instructor/Coordinator shall be responsible for the following.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Teaching courses in the Criminal Justice (CRJS) program to a credit-hour equivalency for full-time faculty status.
  2. Promoting the program through recruitment activities such as responding to inquiries regarding the program and distributing program brochures.
  3. Providing academic/vocational advisement to incoming and current students in the program.
  4. Scheduling classes and creating course schedules for the campus and Leavenworth Center.
  5. Establishing internships for career majors.
  6. Planning for the long-term needs of the program.
  7. Overseeing the selection and ordering of textbooks for program courses.
  8. Conducting Advisory Board meetings each semester.
  9. Working with BITAC to create and offer training courses and programs (credit and non-credit).
  10. Reviewing applications for teaching positions within the program.
  11. Participating in interviews for teaching positions within the program.
  12. Preparing and submitting to the Instructional Dean, a budget proposal for the program.
  13. Preparing and submitting all reports required by the Kansas State Department of Education.
  14. Assist in evaluating all Instructors teaching in the CRJS program.
  15. Monitoring the program curriculum and recommending necessary changes.
  16. Monitoring the Criminal Justice Program in Police Science and Corrections AAS.
  17. Review course syllabi and course descriptions contained in the college catalog and online.
  18. Making presentations concerning the CRJS group on campus and off campus.
  19. Participating in Division and Campus Coordinator’s Meetings.
  20. Serving as a mentor for all Adjunct Instructors in the program.
  21. Completing a program evaluation utilizing the college evaluation system.
  22. Recommending applicants for employment as Adjunct Instructors.
  23. Submitting new courses and other curricular changes to Academic Policies.
  24. Supervising Adjunct Instructors and Work-Study Students assigned to the program.
  25. Serving on area Public Safety/Criminal Justice related Advisory Boards to maintain a working relationship with graduate employers.
  26. Other duties as assigned by the Dean.
  
QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, or related field preferred.  18 graduate hours are required.
  2. Three to five years of work experience in the field of Law Enforcement or Corrections is required.
  3. Three to five years teaching experience as an Adjunct or full-time Faculty member.
  4. Must be committed to the philosophy of the comprehensive community college.
  5. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  6. Must be able to work with students with a variety of backgrounds, demographic characteristics and skill levels.
  7. Must be able to work effectively with Adjunct Instructors, other full-time Faculty, Administrators and Staff.

SALARY:                 Commensurate with education and experience per the Master Contract
