Reporting Directly to the Associate Dean of Enrollment Management and Student Services, the Director of Admissions is responsible for providing leadership to the Office of Admissions and overseeing the recruitment of students to Kansas City Kansas Community College. This self-motivated person will have excellent management, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a sound knowledge of recruitment and marketing within higher education systems. The Director provides leadership and guidance for recruitment events, day-to-day operations, budget expenditures, project management for CRM and application software programs, and contemporary enrollment management practices, particularly as it relates to data analytics. The Director will supervise, train & coordinate the efforts of operation staff, recruiters, Admissions Specialists, and indirectly supervise student employees to ensure prospective student inquires, applications, credentials and documents are processed and responded to in a timely and efficient manner. The Director will generate statistical reports and provide analysis for multiple purposes including daily/weekly benchmarking relating to recruitment, inquiry, applications, admission decisions, prospect sourcing, review of communications and admission events.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Oversee the overall operations of the Admissions Department to include full and part-time personnel.
  2. Develop, execute, and access office policies, procedures, and data processing systems of the Admissions Office.
  3. Manage day to day workflow and processing in Admissions office.
  4. Optimize the use of the technology for optimal back- and front- end user experience from inquiry to application to enrollment.
  5. Hires, develops, and provides leadership/supervision to Admissions Office staff.
  6. Responsible for formulating and implementing long-range, strategic enrollment management plan.
  7. Collaborate with Executive Director of Marketing and Community Outreach on the development and implementation of print communication strategies, web strategy and development, email and social media communication strategies, and campus positioning and branding.
  8. Creating data-driven recruitment plans.
  9. Increasing enrollment by ethnicity, academic ability, geography, transfer students, and other special populations.
  10. Strengthening the admissions funnel through the use of data analytics and predictive modeling to increase yield rates.
  11. Financial aid leveraging in consultation with the Director of Financial Aid.
  12. Integrating recruitment planning with retention planning.
  13. Development of student list purchasing strategies as well as management of inquiry qualification.
  14. Conduct competition analysis and market research on prospective students.
  15. Analyzing academic program demand.
  16. Provides regular reports on enrollment and other recruitment information.
  17. Participate in the development of the strategic enrollment and communications plan and annual assessment of the plan.
  18. Serve as primary liaison to internal offices including Technology, Registrar, and Institutional Research.
  19. Coordinates with outside consultants and vendors on search, predictive modeling, and application generation,
  20. Participate in campus recruitment events as needed.
  21. Work collaboratively with all KCKCC departments to address the needs and concerns of domestic and international students.
  22. Work with Student Advising Office to provide support to degree completion students that is consistent with established policy and procedures.
  23. Compile data and submit monthly reports to document activities and an annual summary to highlight accomplishments to the Dean and Associate Dean of Enrollment Management and Student Services.
  24. Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
  1. Maintain the Solomon Amendment in reference to military recruiting lists.
  2. Develop and maintain close working relationship with key secondary school constituents.
  3. Reporting requirements of the SEVIS system for international students.
  4. Must be available for some travel and be able to work evening and weekend hours when required
 
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Supervise the Admissions Specialists.
  2. Supervise the designated Admissions Office staff (Main Campus and TEC).
  3. Supervise Admissions application functions at all locations.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  1. Ability to operate a computer in areas as Desktop Publishing, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.
  2. Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  3. Ability to work well with individuals with varying personality traits, abilities, and capabilities, both on the telephone and in person.
  4. Must be able to handle difficult situations with diplomacy.
  5. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all matters and information.
  6. Must possess a pleasant telephone demeanor and ability to answer questions about the college with a sense of pride.
  7. Must have the ability to organize work well and operate with composure under the pressure of deadlines.
  8. Must be able to work with minimal supervision, and to initiate and work on projects independently, as time permits.
  9. Must have a thorough knowledge of the current immigration regulations and intent of the law and a thorough knowledge of academic policies at KCKCC. Lead the campus in understanding that the college needs to set academic policies that work with F1 regulations.
  10. Must be flexible enough to work on more than one project at a time.
  11. Working knowledge of a web-based student information system – DATATEL preferred.
  12. Experience with production of a variety of media (social media) promotional literature and display materials.
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  1. Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of four years’ experience in admissions functions, supervision of full and part-time personnel, and work in higher education setting.
  3. Must possess an understanding of institutional marketing strategies.
  4. Must have a working knowledge of all laws, policies, and procedures related to an Admissions Office and all students’ records required.
  5. Must have the ability to work well with individuals with various backgrounds, abilities, capabilities, including prospective students, current students, parents/spouses, high school counselors, faculty, staff, the public, and others.
  6. Must possess skills in time management and problem solving.
  7. Must have ability to make rational, intelligent, and fair decisions.
  8. Must possess good organizational skills.
  9. Must be able to work under pressure of deadlines and with minimal supervision.
  10. Must keep all matters of the office confidential.
  11. Familiarity with the SEVIS system preferred.
